A suspect linked to the "possible attempted assassination" against Donald Trump on Sunday afternoon has been connected to a local university. Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, formerly of Greensboro, is accused of being discovered on a Trump-owned golf course with an AK-47, a GoPro camera, and other equipment, concealed in bushes in what officials are calling an assassination attempt. According to a LinkedIn profile, Routh is a former student of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He previously lived in Greensboro but moved to Hawaii earlier this year. Voter records show he participated in the Democratic primary in Guilford County as an unaffiliated voter. Neighbors reported that his family relocated to Hawaii in May. The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections has records of Routh dating back to 2002. In 2002, he barricaded himself inside a Greensboro business with a gun, according to the News & Record. In 2003, he was sentenced for driving without a license, carrying a concealed weapon, and a hit-and-run. In 2010, he was convicted of possessing stolen goods. Routh received probation for all these charges, per the Department of Adult Corrections website.
